Yoga and Pilates with Shareen Woodford
Shareen is a fully certified Stott Pilates instructor, trained at the beginner, intermediate and advanced levels on the mat, reformer, cadillac, stability chair, barrels and small props. She has additional training in injuries and special populations. She teaches fun and energetic group classes and especially enjoys working with clients one on one to ensure a program perfectly fitted to the needs of each unique individual.
Shareen is also a renowned yoga teacher and yoga teacher trainer, having led retreats and Yoga Teacher Training programs locally and internationally. She teaches Ashtanga, vinyasa, power, yin, restorative and hatha. She travels regularly to India to study yoga asana, pranayama, philosophy, sanskrit and chanting with the worlds best teachers and gurus such as Sharath Jois, Saraswati Jois and Lakshmish Bhat at KPJAYI, and Dr. M. A. Jayashree and Sri M. A. Narasimhan at the Anantha Research Foundation.
She was a former dancer and gymnast as well as a varsity competitive swimmer at the University of Toronto. She has copious and various experience in the world of fitness and athletics including over 18 years as a competitive swim coach, swimming instructor, lifeguard and aquafitness instructor. She also earned a diploma in jewellery design and goldsmithing from George Brown College. Shareen is a certified Thai Yoga Massage therapist as well.
Her approach to teaching combines all of her areas of experience and expertise. She shares with her students a genuine enjoyment of breath and movement, mind-body connection and always encourages safe and correct technique and athletic precision.
